We ventured to the mountains last weekend to enjoy Fall foliage at its peak.
After a little research, I learned that mid-October is the perfect time to witness the glorious hues of Fall.
We traveled 1.5 hours North to our local mountains . . . and I couldn't believe how beautiful the forest floor and trees were . . . golds and bright reds speckled the mountain sides. Beautiful, simply beautiful.
The temperature was also quite pleasant . . . low 60s during the day . . . and low 30s at night. That's heaven for us!
While hiking, I couldn't resist snipping colorful branches from so many of the trees that graced our paths. I brought home enough to make a few bouquets . . . as well as send some to school with our kindergartner and first grader to share with their teachers and classmates.
Our home is filled with the vibrant hues of Fall this year . . . and I love it!
For isn't Fall about the celebration of these vibrant colors? So let's find Fall's beauty and bring it indoors!
LET'S STAY in touch!

Beautiful fall leaves...walking home from church this morning I gathered many fall leaves. They are spectacular! Your leaves are quite beautiful...and I wish I had some branches to tuck in a vase! Have a great night!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous colors! It's so nice that you could go and enjoy them this weekend. They look great in your home!
ReplyDeleteThose are especially beautiful leaves! I love that your home is filled with them, and that you sent some to school to share. Great idea! I'm thinking, based on your birthday post, you are in CA? If so, I remember always feeling a bit left out every fall growing up there since very few leaves changed colors. I think it's special that your family had an adventure in the mountains to bring fall to you! Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteHi Nicki,
DeleteWe try to go somewhere that has Fall every September/October, if possible.
Although our city is filled with trees, they don't seem to turn those gorgeous, vibrant colors . . . so we go to where we can see the colors and feel the cooler temperatures of this amazing time of year.
This year we ventured nearby to the mountains. I didn't know what to expect . . . and I was pleasantly surprised at how beautiful our local mountains are this time of year.
Have a great weekend Nicki!
Suzanne
These leaves are beautiful and they make such beautiful arrangement. Are u in Southern Cal and is the mountain you talk about Lake Arrowhead? I have been there for years and I visited there during a summer. My neighborhood where my apartment is don't have any fall foliage. All I see are the same old, ugly and pathetic looking palm trees everywhere. They look sick compared to the ones in Hawaii.
ReplyDeleteWe do live in Southern California . . . and ventured a little ways north to Big Bear. It's closer to us than Lake Arrowhead. We just needed a little getaway to find, see, and feel Fall.
DeleteEscape to the mountains if you can - before the Fall foliage finishes turning it's beautiful hues. It's well worth the drive!
Have a great weekend,
Suzanne
Suzanne, I always enjoy your photography but these photos are absolutely gorgeous! You've captured Fall beautifully with all it's vibrant colors. We're looking forward to a trip out and about this Sunday in Eastern Missouri.
ReplyDeleteSuzanne,
ReplyDeleteThese are beautiful. I collected dried oak leaves on our last fall trip to Big Bear and interestingly, they stayed perfect, rather than curling up and drying out completely so this year I used them on my fall table setting for the dining room. Next visit I'll be sure to take clippers. These colors are fabulous.

These are spectacular! And your camera captures it all beautifully.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful as always!

ReplyDeleteOh my how beautiful! I love everything you do!
ReplyDeleteWow, so pretty. I've never seen "real" fall colors in person, so I'm quite envious. Thank you for sharing :)
ReplyDeleteThose are absolutely gorgeous! I'm so sad we're past peak color. My name is Katie and I host Fall Into the Holidays, now open. All entries get pinned. I would love to have you link up!
