Cut the Rope . . . Om Nom birthday! Part 2 ~ food, desserts, and favors

Let's jump right into food, desserts and favors!

We hosted a . . .

~ beef and chicken ~

with all the fixings . . .

~ I arranged the condiments in a shipping box,
as though it arrived in the same manner as Om Nom ~
Oh, and a CANDY lollipop too! That's for Om Nom!

~ the Sauerkraut was a BIG HIT! ~

A big jar of pickles sat next to the condiments. A fun treat at any picnic lunch!

~ A big hit with the kids ~

Side salads included . . .

I even carried the "packaging" theme
to the tins that held our forks!

And what did we drink? Om Nom's favorite concoction from ZeptoLab!
Not really, but I was so excited when I found this BRIGHT green Kiwi & Strawberry punch! It looked luminescent in the bright sunlight, and added to the theme of the celebration!

ZeptoLab is the gaming company known for developing Cut the Rope

And who doesn't LOVE paper straws!?!

And now on to everyone's favorite part of a party . . . DESSERT!

I designed the Cake Table to include items and characters
commonly seen in CUT THE ROPE . . .

bright, colorful levels (wrapped boxes seen in the rear)
naughty spiders (seen looming over Om Nom)
STARS (how you earn points on CUT THE ROPE)
brown packages with FRAGILE labels (it's how Om Nom is delivered)
CANDIES (Om Nom's ultimate goal!)

Auntie Alex, Owner and Cake Designer of Cameo Cake Company
made Ford's birthday cake and cupcakes!

The cake was a double barrel square cake,
with dark chocolate cake and MINT Swiss meringue buttercream,
frosted with dark chocolate ganache,
and then covered in fondant.

It was delicious!
The MINT Swiss meringue buttercream was heavenly!

Everyone's favorite part was the painting technique she
used to paint the "cardboard" box . . .
and, of course, Om Nom himself!

She made Om Nom using modeling chocolate!

It's time to sing Happy Birthday!

~ anxiously waiting!! ~

Ford is holding a BIG, long breath TO BLOW OUT HIS CANDLE . . .

Ford and his friends were MOST excited about the Cupcake Mural!

Auntie Alex  created a scene from the Cardboard level of CUT THE ROPE, using cupcakes!

~ Lemon cupcakes filled with vanilla Swiss meringue buttercream,
covered in fondant ~

Om Nom Nom Nom . . . so good!

Everyone went home with a party favor . . .

and
a white chocolate dipped CAMPFIRE marshmallow
that was sprinkled with GREEN Apple Pop Rocks!

We had so much fun, including the birthday boy!

Happy Birthday, sweet Ford!
I love you . . . infinity,
mommy

Cut the Rope . . . Om Nom birthday! Part 1 ~ decorations

Our youngest son, Ford, turned 4 . . . and we celebrated with family & friends, and a Cut the Rope ~ Om Nom inspired celebration!

So when Ford told me that he wanted an Om Nom birthday, I couldn't have been happier. Besides the fact that Om Nom is down-right adorable, Ford might be one of Cut the Rope/Om Nom's biggest fans!  What a great combination . . . 2 cute characters (Ford and Om Nom) and FUN!

If you haven't played the game, then here's a litte fyi . . .

The objective of Cut the Rope is to feed CANDY to a little green monster
named Om Nom while collecting stars.
On level 1-1, before you play, there is a ring from the doorbell
and you open the door. Om Nom is in a box and you can see
his eyes inside a hole. Above the hole there is a sign that says:
FEED WITH CANDY!!
You must feed him with candy by cutting ropes and using air cushions,
magic hats, anti-gravity buttons, and other items.
Om Nom loves candy, so if the candy drops off-screen or gets destroyed,
he will groan in disappointment and make a sad face if you lose.
Om Nom is a very sweet little creature, unless spiders steal his candy.
The levels are quite creative, and a lot of fun to play!

Ok . . . so with that background information . . . here's a peak into Ford's Om Nom/Cut the Rope inspired party!

I had so much fun creating the centerpieces and decorations!

~ I like to sketch my ideas before making them.
It helps organize my thoughts and ideas! ~

I used scrapbook paper to create the centerpieces, and wrapping paper to cover boxes (which symbolize Cut the Rope's LEVELS).

~ Meet Om Nom! ~

~ 1/18" wood sticks held the stars upright ~

Om Nom's goal . . . EAT CANDY!

I suspended the CANDY using 12 gauge decorative wire!

Burlap ribbon lined the tables, as well as CANDIES that I made using paper decorations and yellow scrapbook paper.

"Packages" looking very similar to the ones found on Cut the Rope were also seen on table tops. I wonder why they have FRAGILE stickers on them? Could they be a special delivery for Ford with his very own Om Nom?!?

I made Cream Cheese Sugar Cookie STARS for party favors . . . and decorations!

Naughty spiders found their way to the party, and they tried to intercept Ford, Om Nom, and the kids from getting CANDY!

~ I made these cute spiders from my Halloween decorations
and what I call "comic eyes" that I made from construction paper ~

And finally, the decorations wouldn't be complete
without CANDY on the tables!

I found these saltwater taffies at Powell's Candy Shoppe . . . and chose red, yellow, and green to go with the colors and theme of the party.

Ford's party was bright and colorful . . .
a real life version of Cut the Rope!

My favorite part of the day was seeing the excitement
on Ford's face, as he watched some of his
favorite parts of Cut the Rope & Om Nom come to life!

Our activities . . .
Ford and his friends played for hours on a
HUGE inflatable jumper and slide combo.

And the adults enjoyed Ladder Golf on the lawn!

Happy Birthday, Ford!

Stay tuned for Part 2 of Ford's party!
