welcome, Spring!

Welcome, Spring!

I was hoping to have my first Spring post ready to share with you today, but I've been particularly busy this week with our Kindergartner and First Grader on a minimum day schedule, helping Charley with her first report and presentation (due tomorrow), as well as working on our youngest son's birthday cake and party details for this Saturday.

So when 'life" gets a little too busy, blogging takes a back burner until I have a little 'free' time again.

I have upwards of 10 posts in my cue just waiting for me to finish editing photos so that I can share them with you!

peonies in the early morning light

I tip-toe downstairs every morning around 6 o'clock so that I can capture a quiet moment before my little ones wake up.

I take this time to enjoy my favorite time of the day . . . morning.

I often open the door to our patio to let in the cool morning air . . . and listen to the birds.

This is when I plan my day, reflect, and often pray.

I don't usually take photos in the morning, but my peonies looked as if they were glowing . . . and I couldn't resist snapping a few photos of them in the early morning light.

They're truly an incredibly feminine and beautiful flower.

pink tulips and celebrating May

It's still Spring, friends!

If you live in Southern California then you might be questioning that statement . . . and I don't blame you.

Our recent temperatures in the high 90s and 100s left me wondering if I somehow missed the first day of Summer. So I looked at my calendar . . . and discovered that Summer doesn't officially begin until Saturday, June 21st!

Although our temperatures might be reflective of hot Summer days, my heart is still celebrating Spring.

So when I found these gorgeous hot pink tulips, I fell in love.

Their bright, vibrant hue feels like Spring at its height of beauty

I hope you're taking time to enjoy the last few weeks of Spring, too.

daffodils

Spring just isn't Spring without daffodils.

When I see daffodils in our local nurseries, then I know it's Spring.

Their bright and vibrant hue is like sunshine . . . and their trumpet-like centers look as though they're singing, "It's Spring! It's Spring!"

I'm sure you would agree that daffodils (like most flowers) are the most beautiful when seen growing wild in fields.

I think that's why I love seeing daffodils growing in pots or buckets. They tend to look more natural with their uneven heights and tall green blades.

Daffodils are also quite beautiful clustered in bunches. My favorite way to display them is in bud vases and tea cups.

We've been enjoying fresh cut daffodils . . . yellow and WHITE ones . . . since they made their debut a few weeks ago.  One of my favorite photos is the one of the daffodils and the hand-blown brown eggs that my sister gave to me (above). Simple and natural.

I hope daffodils find their way into your home this Spring.
